Wayne County assists Ecorse Creek Clean-Up event.
Event draws citizens from around the watershed.

Wayne County Department of Environment field staff provided support for volunteers working on the Ecorse Creek Cleanup. Staff assisted volunteers at three different sites in Lincoln Park and in Ecorse. Site areas included Kiwanis Park, Papalas Park and the Family Services parking lot at Fort and Outer Drive. Staff members equipped with chain saws, wheelbarrows and dump trucks joined citizens and assisted in cutting fallen trees, clearing brush, and removing debris from the Creek.

Late in the morning, staff members went to the aid of Ecorse citizens at Chunigan Park and helped stabilize creek banks and clear logjams, where appropriate, in the Creek there. More than 200 cubic yards of brush, trees and other debris were removed from Ecorse Creek and the adjacent areas. Staff members and volunteers alike enjoyed the pleasant weather and appreciated each other’s efforts. A picnic lunch was provided at the end of the clean up.
